Karl started his career in mens health in 2006 at The Prostate Centre, London. Initially offering hands on treatments to prostate cancer patients under the care of internationally renowned Urologists Roger Kirby and Prokar Dasgupta.It was here that Karl began researching and studying techniques to care and support the often overlooked chronic pelvic pain and prostatitis population. He began working with CP/CPPS patients at the clinic using a BioPsychoSocial approach incorporating manual therapy, relaxation techniques, lifestyle advice and stress management.During this period he set up the first in person, monthly CPPS/CP support group for male pelvic pain in London.In 2014 Karl wrote a chapter in the book “Journeys in Healing- Inspiring Experiences of Arvigo Practitioners and Clients.” He describes a case study in which he successfully uses the traditional Mayan abdominal massage ATMAT in the treatment of CPPS/CP.In 2016. He opened the doors to The Pelvic Pain Clinic, solely treating CPPS and CP patients using a BioPsychoSocial approach. During the pandemic he moved his practice online and was still able to offer treatments and support for UK and worldwide patients. Karl currently treats patients from all across the globe face to face and using zoom for tele-health sessions. He now receives referrals from Prostate Cancer UK, Prostate Scotland, a growing number of private Urologists and GP’s here in the UK as well as physio’s in the USA and Australia.In 2017 Karl Published the article - The inflammatory journey of a prostatitis patient in Trends magazine. The article highlighted the distinct lack of awareness and proper treatment of male pelvic pain conditions CPPS and CPDuring the pandemic Karl ran weekly support groups for men, with guest lecturers for men with pelvic pain. Guests included specialist Urologists, Researchers and Pain specialists.In 2020 Karl founded Pelvic Pain Matters an online platform offering education, support and awareness for male pelvic pain patients and clinicians. His team runs an online patient RECOVER programme for patients, a facebook support group, a podcast and masterclass/deep dive lectures into a range of aspects of male pelvic pain. Guest lecturers have included Tim Parks, Sandy Hilton and Nick Woods and our panel members included Urologists, pelvic health physios, pain specialists and recovered patients.This year he has relaunched the online pelvic pain support groups once again to connect and support men suffering with pelvic pain - https://www.thepelvicpainclinic.co.uk/mens-chronic-pelvic-pain-syndrome-chronic-prostatitis-support-group/Having suffered with Epididymo-orchitis in his mid 20’s and losing a testicle due to the infection Karl knows much of what his patients go through in their journeys to recovery from CPPS and CP. Karl has dedicated his life to the improved care and education of this undervalued group of men.
